The article is devoted to the study of the influence of academic integrity on the process of professional development of future specialists. In the modern educational space, adherence to the principles of academic integrity is not only an ethical norm, but also a fundamental condition for the formation of professional ethics, responsibility and competence. The article examines the essence of the concept of ‘academic integrity’, analyses its key principles and determines their interconnection with the professional qualities necessary for a successful career. It is emphasised that adherence to the principles of academic integrity contributes to the development of critical thinking, the ability to analyse and objectively evaluate information, which is important for making informed decisions in future professional activities. It is argued that violations of academic standards, in particular plagiarism and fraud, not only discredit the student, but also lead to a lack of in-depth knowledge, skills and personal responsibility, which negatively affects their competitiveness in the labour market.
Special attention is paid to the need to integrate the principles of academic integrity into the educational process in order to raise awareness among students of its importance for their professional and personal growth. The conclusion is made that academic integrity is an integral part of training highly qualified, honest and socially responsible specialists. Directions for further research aimed at developing effective mechanisms for implementing a culture of academic integrity in higher education institutions are indicated.
