About the Journal

Journal "Health and Safety Pedagogy" ("Педагогіка безпеки") is a scientific edition acknowledged by Supreme Attestation Commission of Ukraine as the specialized edition in the spheres of pedagogics (order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of 28.12.2017 No.1714). 

The journal publishes articles, containing new theoretical and practical results in the fields of education, vocational training and life safety. The state of the art reviews of the development of important scientific problems, surveys of scientific and practical conferences are also published in the journal.

 

Subject area and range of issues

The journal "Health and Safety Pedagogy" publishes articles containing new theoretical and practical results in the fields of education, vocational training and life safety.

The current stage of the society development is characterized by such serious manifestations of crisis trends that humanity should as quickly as possible radically change the attitude to life and take the necessary steps for transformation from consumer society to society of security. Indeed, human activity in all its forms: social, political, technical, economic, military can not guarantee the survival of the human species. The problems of security challenges daily each person, because forms of its activity cover practical, intellectual and spiritual processes occurring in the household, social, cultural, labor, scientific, educational and other spheres of life.

Thus, the formation of modern safety culture requires transformation of the world – view of the entire society through education. Education should be of predictive character, that enables to pass from the priority of  protection in hazardous and emergency situations to the priority of prevention these situations, priority to provide the security of life sustaining activity. Accordingly, in the course of the activity human being has to learn to feel himself the subject of security, not a threat.

This approach to safe life activity involves mastering of accumulated human knowledge and experience of survival in a variety of dangerous situations, as well as the formation of preparedness for their practical application in difficult, constantly changing conditions. Therefore, we need comprehensive training of the individual to prevent and combat emergencies and dangerous situations and his worldview, moral, intellectual, psychological, communication, legal, aesthetic, ecological, social, and physical readiness should promote this training. After all, human who since his childhood starts mastering the basic principles of safe life, becomes the subject of security, in modern conditions capable not only to save life and health, but also simultaneously not to be the source of danger directly for himself, society and the environment.

Health and Safety Pedagogy – is a specific branch of pedagogy, aimed at study of patterns of human competence formation in the field of life safety.

Main tasks of health and safety pedagogy is to cultivate in individuals:

  • culture of safety and risk-oriented thinking in which problems of security, protection and preservation of the environment are considered as the most important priorities in life and activity;
  • knowledge of modern issues and key challenges of security of life and ability to determine the list of obligations in the process of solving the problems of professional activity, taking into account the risk of hazards that can cause emergency situations and lead to adverse effects on business facilities;
  • abilities to assess habitat of personal safety, staff and society, to monitor dangerous situations and justify priorities and means of preserving life, health and protection of workers in terms of threats and hazardous and emergency situations;
  • ability to make, within its authority, the decision to achieve acceptable levels of security for different types of activities.
